Recycled & Altered Art Travel Journal:
It's time for another fun challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu and the theme for the Pink Team this month is Travel. For my take on the Travel theme, I created a hand made book created entirely from scratch.
Creating the Book:
I made the cover from pieces of mat-board left over from framing paintings and the pages inside the book are made from watercolor paper and I stitched each signature with a Coptic Stitch.

I covered the cover with a piece of Parks map from British Columbia which I thought was rather cool as it lists places chose to where I live.
I have always like the Thousand Miles saying and created a digital version which I printed out and used as one of the main focal points on the front. I thought since my book was created with a Travel theme in mind it would be nice if it had some kind of compass on it but since I didn't have one I made one also digital and cut it out all the layers with my set of circle die cuts. After I had all the elements I though it still need a little something
else so used a piece of red polk-a-dot ribbon I had kicking around my
art room. It
Above is a photo of the back of the book. It really is a Travel Book / Journal because I live in the area shown on the cover and have traveled all over those black and red lines. To finish off my book I added a simple cord as a closer with red wooden beads attached to end of the cord.
On the left is a photo of the pages for the inside of my book. If you look closely you can see the stitching. and under the pages is the semi covered pieces which will be the cover. I hope you have enjoyed my Travel Book and will pop on over to the Ecelctic Ellapu Challenge Blog to see all the other wonderful Travel projects created by the Team. While you are there please also share your own art with us.

Absolutely gorgeous Chris. Such a wonderful and handy item to have with one, not even for travel, but just as an everyday notebook too.
