Love Heart Glitter Board Book

This one is for this months challenge at Altered Eclectic

Recycled Altered Child's Board Book

Recycled & Altered Child's Board Book

I make this one out of a Recycled Children’s Board Book. I cut the book apart and used one page for the cover and then glued two others together so I could cut a small alcove to contain the Red Heart Element. The Read Heart was part of a set of earnings I bought at a thrift store I painted all the pages black and then covered it with some black paper, splattered it, and then applied some Glitter Glue I bought at the Dollar Store. I bought the silver netting a couple of years ago for Christmas. To make the Heart stand out from the background, I glued a button in the alcove and then glued the heart on top of that. The main focal point on the front cover is one of the postcards I restored  and think she is perfect for the cover,

Burgundy Cream Asian Shadowbox

I created this little Asian Shadow box for this month’s challenge at |Altered Eclectic. The colors are Red, Burgandy and Cream, (what a wonderful combination, as soon as I read the colors we wee to use, I knew I had to make something special and striking.

I love this little shadow box, because it came from a thrift store and cost a whole 50 cents. The part I really love about it is that I am not the one that found it. I was looking around the store for something cool to use in my Art, when Hubby came up to me with it in hand and asked if I could use it. What a sweet Guy don‘t you think? I have enough 2nd hand stuff to last me an entire lifetime and he doesn’t complain and brings me more.

This is actually a very small box. I an not sure what it was for originally (maybe small soap) but I have never see one that tiny before. I painted it with Red Acrylic Paint and then applied a layer of Matte Gel Medium. From Top left to right and so on. The Sentiment is one of my Digital Sentiments, The Paper Rose was made out of brown packing material and which I dyed with  re-inkers ink and then dry brushed with Glitter Glue. I applied the Rose over a small piece of gather tool which I got from my friend Phyllis who always gives me the most wonderful things to use in my art.

I applied a bit of Glitter to the tool as well. For the bottom left I made a paper fann. I accordion folded patterned cardstock, and then tied the bottom half with red crochet thread. I then added some of the same Glitter Glue I applied to the Paper Rose. I then added a Gold Rim Cream Button to coordinate with the sentiment above.  The Asian design is one of my original Geisha digital stamps which I collared with bic and Sharpie markers.

Be sure to visit Altered Eclectic for a great challenge and some wonderful projects from the rest of the Team. These ladies are absolutely amazing and so honored to be part of this talented team.

Chris this is absolutely stunning, the overall really does look so luxurious. You are just so clever working with small items - something I am unable to achieve without cluttering my design. Beautiful xx
