In Our Dreams Dancer ATC and a Giveaway

My project for today is a bit different from my usual. Instead of using one of my original digital stamps, I have restored and re-colored and old vintage post card of a lovely dancer from my collections of collectibles and ephemera.

I created this ATC / Artist Trading Card for this ,month’s color challenge at The Craft Garden. The colors Kerry chose are beautiful, mostly green, very pale and look quite retro, but gorgeous as they are, I couldn’t find much of anything in stash, remotely close to those hues, so decided to be inventive.

I started by opening up the challenge photos in my Paint Shop Pro and picked out some of the colors from the various photo panels with my eyedropper tool.  What at first glance seemed to be mostly green color pallet turned out to contain subtle shades of pink, purple, yellow, gold,  brown, blue, grey and even brown, proving once again that we can miss alot if we do not take the time to really look at things more closely.

Project How-To:
I totally re-coloring the dancer which was originally mostly brown and then created the little star-burst embellishment on the top left hand corner. The 3d star-burst was made by gluing layer upon layer of the punch outs to give it some height. I then took my black Micron pen, added the dots and sealed the finished star-burst with Crystal Lacquer. The two brown backgrounds on the right side as well as the sentiment are also mine and can be found on my CS Designs Shop.  To make my ATC extra sturdy, I used a piece of a thick page from a children's board book as the bottom foundation. The little angel is something I have been holding on to for a few years, and although I have another one just like it I have been reluctant to use it until now.

Be sure to visit the Craft Garden to see the lovely projects the rest of the team created. Hope you will show us your projects as well. :)

I love how you managed to transfer the colour scheme from the inspirational image collage to your lovely ATC, Chris!

I am surprised how you managed to make a small format like an ATC look so "present". Love the string and the button on top!

Wow I am not sure how I missed this stunning creation. So sorry. I just adore the nostalgic dreamy feel of the design and that starburst embellishment is just so creative and the perfect touch. Your personal design papers is also a wonderful backdrop to the image.
