Mixed Media Art Tag Book part 1

Today I am sharing a special project I created for the Pastel March challenge at The Craft Garden. Kerry the owner of the challenge sent everyone on the Design Team some fab little packages full of the most wonderful embellishments for us to use on this months project. I am not much of a pastel person and often struggle with such soft colors but all in all I think I did ok with this one. This month instead of making a single project, I created something more in-depth project to show off all the pretties things I received and the result was an Art Tag Book, bound together by a single metal book ring.

I love Books and Art Tags and especially like this combination because it can be appreciated as single complete piece as well as the tags removed and used individual to keep your place in your favorite books.

Above is a photo of the contents of the lovely package I received and although I used quite a few of the things in this project, I saved some for later projects which I have some ideas for.
Jeweled & Copper Wire Art Tag ... Included in my package were two round purple plastic elements ( a small one and a large one). As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to make something special with them and decided on a Copper Wire Bookmark with the Round Purple Elements as the main focal points. The beaded part of the book mark hangs on the outside while the curled piece on the right holds your place inside the book. I love making wire bookmarks because they can be so simple yet so elegant and different and this one is just perfect for my new John Lennon Book which was a Christmas present from my beautiful daughter.

Combo Pocket and Art Tag ... The images above a combo project, with a pocket tag on the right and the tag that fits in the pocket on the right. The Tender Thoughts sentiment is from the back of a recycled greeting card (never throw anything away) and the pocket was made from a keepsakes bag from Kerry's package. Also from the package is the paper text button flower which Kerry sells on her Ebay Shop. I added a little glitter glue to the paper flower and although it does not really show in the photo, it stiffened the flower enough that I was able to curle the petals a bit and have them retain their shape. The Edge of a Petal sentiment is from my CS Designs and the tiny pink flowers were  cut from text weight paper patterned paper and glued onto heavy watercolor paper and cut out for a 3d effect.
The tag on the left uses another flower from my package, and the text background as well as the square below the flower are from a recycled book page which has been colored with pigment ink. The sentiments for both tags are computer generated. The image on the left tag is the lovely Cosmo who is one of my own CS Designs digi stamp. I created the copper butterfly with a punch and gluing several layers to give a 3 dimensional look and then painted it with copper acrylic paint. I created the little pink pearl leaf embellishments with some scrap wire and some stray pink beads. The pink lace under the butterfly and by the beaded leafs were also from the package I received.
Purple (Clean And Simple ) CAS Art Tag ... The purple Art Tag on the left is a little different for me, I love to embellish and multi-layer in my art and this one is pretty much CAS, but I think the simplicity and soft minimal colors is what adds to the delicate beauty of this tag. The main focal point is named Ange Face and she is one of my original designs from my CS Designs / Victorian digital stamp designs. Angel Face has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine to give her a soft effect. Since this tag fits into the Art Tag Book, I left off putting a tassel on the top. When I added it it seem to detract from the ribbon tied around the sentiment and thought it really didn't need one to be usable as a bookmark.

My Art Tag Book is playing in the following challenges.

Chris its always such a delight to see you have posted. Wow this is another amazing creative and arty creation. There is just so many beautiful little details on each of these stunning tags. You have definitely rocked the pastel theme. Your self designed image of the lady on the lilac tag is still one of my favourite image. Looking forward to your next creation.

You're very welcome. I'm so glad they went to such creative use. I've always toyed with the idea of stiffening the flowers so it's nice to see how it works
